Men's and Women's Cross Country Finish Third and Fourth at Spider Alumni Open

MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – The University of Richmond cross country team began its 2023 season Saturday morning as they hosted the Annual Spider Alumni Open at Pole Green Park. The men trekked a 6K to open the collegiate competition followed by the women who took on the 4K.
The Richmond men came in third as a team. Stuart Terrill led the Spiders, finishing 13th at 18:18.8. Right behind Terrill was Jordan Bendura who finished 21st at 18:36.6 (personal best). Henry Haase followed Bendura, crossing the finish line at 18:41.7 (personal best). Freshman Eric Scully took the 39th place finish at 19:11.1 in his collegiate debut. Rounding out the top five for Richmond was William Tune who finished in 45thplace with a mark of 19:15.9 (personal best).
The Spider women grabbed the fourth place finish as a team. Elizabeth Stockman led the group with a mark of 13:35.6 and the 3rd place finish (personal best). Madison Trippett claimed 10th place at 14:03.1. Laurel Kurtz (14:24.8) and Paige Joyce (14:26.6) finished back-to-back in the 19th and 20th place slots. Allison Colflesh rounded out the top five for Richmond with a 36th place finish at 14:52.1.
