Spiders Complete Undefeated Opening Weekend in West Point

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Behind two more match clinches from sophomore Davis Wiley, the University of Richmond Men's Tennis team completed an undefeated season-opening weekend in West Point, N.Y., defeating both Rider and Sacred Heart 4-0 Sunday morning. After defeating Army yesterday, 4-3, the Spiders improved to 3-0 on the young season.

In doubles action, Spider duo Dylan Atkinson and Sebastian Miano defeated Ghitti/Griscti (RU), 6-3 on court three before Cole Brashear and Davis Wiley toppled Grimes/Slattery (RU) 6-3 on court two to clinch the doubles point for Richmond. Daniel Kliebhan and Paxton Pritchard led Dillon/Flotta (RU) on court one 5-4, but the match was left unfinished.

In singles, Miano defeated Hadjivarnava (RU) on court three, 6-0, 6-3, before Paxton Pritchard handled business on court No. 2, 6-3, 6-3 over Griscti (RU). Wiley clinched the match for the Spiders on court four, 6-1, 7-5 over Dillon (RU) for his second match-clinching win of the year and a 4-0 Spider victory.

vs Sacred Heart
Dylan Atkinson and Sebastian Miano again opened the match with a 6-3 doubles win on court three, 6-3, over Goncalves/Hart-Nova (SHU) before Brashear/Wiley coasted to a 6-3 win over Eftekhar/Venci (SHU) on court two. Kliebhan/Pritchard were on the way to a victory on court one, 5-4 against Apostolou/Laennec-Baffrey (SHU), but the match was left unfinished.

In singles, Atkinson bested Alla (SHU) 6-1, 6-1 on court four for a 2-0 Spider lead before Brashear defeated Tetaj (SHU) 6-1, 6-2 on court six. Wiley again came in clutch on singles court No. 3, 7-5, 6-1 over Levinson (SHU) for his third match-clinching victory and another 4-0 Spider win.
