RICHMOND,Va. — Spiders guard Jordan King has been named the A-10 Player of the Week for the second time in the last three weeks, the Atlantic 10 Conference announced Monday. King averaged 24.5 points while shooting 49 percent from the field and 50 percent from three-point range while leading Richmond to wins over George Washington and 16th-ranked Dayton last week.
King scored a team-high 17 points Saturday at the Robins Center as Richmond snapped Dayton's 13-game winning streak, the longest in the nation. The 69-64 win was Richmond's 10th in a row, giving UR its longest win streak since 1935, and moving the Spiders to 15-5 overall and 7-0 in the Atlantic 10 this season.
Wednesday against George Washington, King exploded for 32 points to lead the Spiders to an 82-74 win in the Robins Center. It was King's third 30-point effort this season, the most by a Spider since ShawnDre' Jones in 2016-17.
King is averaging 19.0 points per game this season, second most in the Atlantic 10 and 54th in Division I. On January 15, he shared the A-10 Player of the Week Award with Dayton's DaRon Holmes after helping Richmond to wins vs Loyola Chicago and George Mason.
The Spiders, who received votes in the AP Top 25 poll on Monday for the first time this season, will return to action Wednesday at Fordham, when they take on the Rams at 7 PM on ESPN Plus and SNY.
