Spiders Receive Four Votes in This Week’s AP Top 25 Poll

RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond received four votes in the weekly AP Top 25 Men's College Basketball Poll, released by the Associated Press on Monday. Richmond's total was tied for 36th place in this week's poll, and represented the first time UR has received votes in the AP Top 25 since the October 19, 2021 preseason poll (13 votes).
The Spiders (15-5) have won 10 straight games, tied for the second-longest active win streak in Division I and the longest for the program since 1935. Saturday, Richmond defeated 16th-ranked Dayton 69-64 to improve to 7-0 in the Atlantic 10 and 11-0 at home this season. The win was UR's 16th over a ranked program since Chris Mooney became the Spiders coach in 2005, matching Dayton for the most top-25 wins among current A-10 teams during that span. 2023-24 is the ninth season in program history that Richmond has appeared in the AP Top 25 poll in some form. Mooney has been the Spiders coach in six of those nine seasons.
Richmond will play a pair of games on the road this week, traveling to Fordham on Wednesday (7 PM on ESPN Plus and SNY) and visiting VCU on Saturday. Saturday's game, the first of two Richmond Area Honda Dealers Capital City Classic matchups this season, will tip at 4 PM on ESPNU.
