Women’s Basketball Announces Atlantic 10 Conference Slate
10/02/2024 | Women's Basketball
The Spiders will open their A-10 title defense at home on Dec. 29 against Dayton. Richmond then hits the road to face Fordham on Jan. 2 to ring in the new year followed by a road contest at Massachusetts on Jan. 5 and a matchup with George Mason inside the Robins Center on Jan. 8.
Richmond plays its first nationally televised game on the ESPN Networks at Davidson on Jan. 12, followed by key home games against St. Bonaventure on Jan. 15 and crosstown rival VCU on Jan. 19. The meeting with the Rams will mark the second nationally televised game of the season as the game will be on CBS Sports Network. The Spiders will then travel to Loyola Chicago on Jan. 23 and Dayton on Jan. 26 before a bye week.
"The A-10 was one of the strongest conferences in the country last season and I see it shaping up to be at the top once again," said Head Coach Aaron Roussell. "VCU is always a tough team to play twice and we have some of the other teams expected to be top tier as home-and-home matchups as well. Between the A-10 schedule and our tough non-conference slate, I know this team will be tested regularly throughout the season."
Richmond will host a rematch of the 2024 A-10 Championship final against Rhode Island on Feb. 2 inside the Robins Center before a pair of Pennsylvania trips to La Salle on Feb. 5 and the second CBSSN game at Duquesne on Feb. 9. The Spiders then return home for a three-game home swing with Saint Joseph's on Feb. 13, which will be streamed on Peacock, followed by contests against Saint Louis on Feb. 16 and George Washington on Feb. 19.
The regular season concludes with a road game at VCU on Feb. 23, followed by the second meeting with Davidson on Feb. 26 inside the Robins Center. The Spiders will round out the regular season at Saint Joseph's on March 1.
The 2025 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship will take place on March 5-9 at the Henrico Sports & Events Center. The first and second rounds are slated for March 5-6 on ESPN+, while the quarterfinals on March 7 will be on NBC Sports and the semifinals will be on March 8 on CBSSN. The final on March 9 will be broadcast on ESPN2.
Roussell, who enters his sixth season at the helm of the Spiders, coached the Spiders to a 29-6 overall record in 2023-24, including a 16-2 mark in A-10 play en route to the program's first A-10 championship title and the first conference crown since the 1991 season in the CAA. Sitting at No. 4 in all-time wins at Richmond, Roussell welcomes back a plethora of core talent including A-10 Defensive Player of the Year and A-10 Championship Tournament Most Outstanding Player Addie Budnik and All-Conference First Team select Maggie Doogan. Anna Camden will also look to play in her first season with the Spiders after missing last season due to injury. Katie Hill, Courtney Swider, Ally Sweeney, Jada Green and A-10 Sixth Woman of the Year Rachel Ullstrom also return to the roster.
The Spiders also welcome seven new faces to the program as transfers Faith Alston (App State), Sam Dewey (Illinois), Alyssa Jimenez (FGCU, Nevada) and Steph Ouderkirk (JMU) play their first season in red and blue in addition to freshmen Alicia Newell, Payton Richard and Annika Manthy.
Fans wishing to purchase new season tickets can do so by calling the Richmond Athletics Ticket Office at 1-877-SPIDER-1. Single-game tickets will go on sale soon.
Tip-off times and full TV broadcast information for all Richmond women's basketball games will be updated on RichmondSpiders.com as they become available. Home games and Atlantic 10 games not shown on national television will be streamed on ESPN+ as part of the Atlantic 10's digital rights agreement.
