Men’s and Women’s Tennis set for Second-Straight Edition of River City Tennis Open Oct. 4-6

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond men's and women's tennis programs are set to host the River City Tennis Open this weekend on Oct. 4-6 in Richmond. The open marks the second-straight year the Spiders will host the tournament and will feature top programs in Georgetown, Hampton, Longwood, Virginia, William & Mary, Navy, JMU, Bucknell, VCU and George Washington.
The tournament will be held at both the Westhampton Tennis Complex, as well as the Country Club of Virginia and feature men's and women's singles and doubles pairings. The full tournament pairings and results can be viewed on both the men's and women's schedule page and at the ITA Tournament page.
The women's side will be headlined by a strong group for the Spiders, including Elizabeth Novak, who looks to make a deep run in singles competition. Sofia Barbulescu, Lainey O'Neil, Lucy Webber, Abby Lee, and Amy Walsh are also set to represent Richmond in the singles open. Doubles pairings will feature Novak/Barbulescu, Webber/O'Neil and Claire Le Du/Lee.
On the men's side, Davis Wiley will look to continue his dominant fall showing in singles, while the team will also see appearances from Paxton Pritchard, Otto Sewell, Dylan Atkinson, Sam Rathmanner, Grant Cohen, Cole Brashear, Zach Portnoy and Mark Taranov. Wiley and Brashear will pair up for the doubles competition while the Spiders will also feature the pairings of Pritchard/Rathmanner, Sewell/Atkinson and Portnoy/Taranov.
