RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond Athletics Spider Performance and Development, along with corporate partner CoStar Group, hosted the junior class of student-athletes for the Spider Athletics Etiquette and Networking Dinner at the Country Club of Virginia Monday evening.
RD Montgomery, Associate Director of Student-Athlete Success, teamed up with Leslie Stevenson, Director of Career Development Center in the UR Career Services department to present tips and guidance on networking, interviewing and dining etiquette as the age group begins to the process of searching for internships and full-time employment.
"The Etiquette and Networking Dinner is a fun event that we put on for the junior student-athletes in order to discuss networking techniques and tips on professional etiquette," said Montgomery. "As always, our goal in SPD is to help our student-athletes become champion leaders for life and this evening is a key event in our programming."
New for this year's event, student-athletes were able to practice their interview skills with alumni, UR senior staff and hiring managers from CoStar Group and gain valuable feedback prior to the start of the dinner etiquette portion of the evening.
"Our alumni, staff and partners from CoStar did a wonderful job conversing with the athletes and giving them feedback," Montgomery added.
The student-athletes, joined by UR coaches and staff, were also able to network with community members from a variety of industries including consulting, financial services, real estate, law, advertising, marketing, and branding, education, information technology, healthcare and government.
The program was made possible by the sponsorship of the CoStar Group and generous contributions of Spider Athletics' supporters and mentors.
