Spider Hockey 2024 Season Ends in A-10 Semifinals

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Richmond field hockey team fell in the 2024 Atlantic 10 Conference semifinals to the second-seeded No. 4 Saint Joseph's 6-1 Thursday afternoon at Ellen Ryan Field.
Three-seeded Richmond wraps up the season 11-8, the best since 2015, and 5-2 in league play.
Valen Luna Paratore put the Spiders on the board in the 55th minute of action, converting the Spiders first of two penalty corners in the fourth quarter. Jess McMeeking and Freya MacKay both assisted on the play. Luna Paratore finished the season with 12 goals and one assist on the season.
Saint Joesph's took a 3-0 lead into the half, while holding the upper hand in shots and corners in the first half. The Hawks picked up three more goals in the second half before the Spiders were able to score.
Clara Larripa had the Spiders other shot on goal as the Hawks defense limited UR opportunities in the offensive third of the field.
