RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball team has the honor of highlighting Maggie Doogan as this week's Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week. This is Doogan's third A-10 weekly honor of her career, as she was named Rookie of the Week twice during the 2022-23 season and Player of the Week once last season on Nov. 28, 2023. This is also the second weekly honor for the Spiders this season, as Rachel Ullstrom received the award on Nov. 11, 2024.
Doogan led all scorers with 20 points and seven rebounds in a loss to Georgetown on Dec. 4. She followed that performance with 21 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and a block in the win against Columbia at Henrico Sports & Events Center on Dec. 8. Through the week, she averaged 20.5 points per game, shooting 53.3 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from three-point range. She also averaged seven rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game.
For the season, Doogan is averaging 15 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting 55 percent from the field. She has tallied 150 points, 63 rebounds, 22 assists, 13 blocks and 10 steals through 10 starts. As a junior, she is closing in on the 1,000-career point mark, needing just 24 points to reach the milestone.
The Spiders are back in action on Dec. 15 as the team plays host to No. 6 Texas inside the Robins Center at 1 p.m. before opening the West Palm Beach Classic on Dec. 20 against No. 19 Tennessee at 2:15 p.m. and Alabama on Dec. 21 at 1:15 p.m. to round out the non-conference slate.
