DAYTON, Ohio – Mark Taranov came up with a huge clinch on singles court No. 6 as the University of Richmond men's tennis team downed Dayton Sunday afternoon on the road, 4-3. With the win, the Spiders avenged a loss from last season in the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament, which ended the 2023 season for UR, and improved to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in the A-10 while the Flyers fell to 6-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

How it Happened
Dayton secured the doubles point, downing Daniel Kliebhan and Paxton Pritchard on doubles court No. 1, 6-2 and Dylan Atkinson and Sebastian Miano on court No. 3, 6-1. Davis Wiley and Cole Brashear tied the Flyers at 4-4, but the match was left unfinished on court No. 2.

In singles, Kliebhan downed Bruce (UD), 6-4, 6-3 on court one while Wiley picked up a win on court No. 3 over Zinder, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3. Atkinson also got a win off on court No. 5, 7-5, 7-5. Dayton picked up wins on courts two and four to tie the game at 3-3. Taranov clinched the match for the Spiders on court No. 6 over Dore (UD) in three sets, 6(1)-7(7), 7(7)-6(5), 6-4 to remain undefeated in singles on the year at 3-0.
