Spiders Topple Patriots Saturday Night

FAIRFAX, Va. – The University of Richmond women's tennis team picked up a swift 4-0 victory at George Mason Saturday night to move 3-3 on the year and 1-1 in Atlantic 10 Conference play. Following the loss, the Patriots moved to 1-4 on the year and picked up their first conference loss.
How it Happened
The Spiders got off to a dominating start with three-straight doubles wins. Carly Cohen and Lainey O'Neil swept Liu/Edson (Mason), 6-0, before Claire Le Du and Elizabeth Novak handled business on court No. 1, 6-2, over Wirt/Alasadi (Mason). Lucy Webber and Lara Bakhaya rounded things out with a 6-4 win over Splett/Siegel (Mason) on court No. 2.
In singles, Bakhaya bested Rout (Mason), 6-4, 6-2, on court four to pit Richmond up 2-0. On court No. 2, Leonor Oliveira downed Chauhan (Mason) 6-3, 6-1 before Cohen got the final point for the Spiders with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Wirt (Mason).
