02/27/2024 | General, Men's Basketball, Spider Performance
In recognition of Black History Month, current Spider student-athletes are interviewing some of the most accomplished Black alumni of Spider Athletics to discuss the process of becoming a Spider, their time on campus, and how what they learned at Richmond has helped them personally and professionally. Every BHM Spider Spotlight from 2021 to 2024 can be viewed at richmondspiders.com/BHMspotlights.Â
Former Spider basketball player Nick Sherod is a Richmond native who starred for his hometown team from 2016 to 2022, overcoming a pair of season-ending knee injuries and leading UR to an A-10 championship in his final season. With more than 1,400 career points, he is among the top 25 scorers in Richmond men's basketball history. Sherod now teaches high school English and coaches at St. Christopher's School, less than a mile from Richmond's campus.Â
