Weinfurther Wins Patriot League Golfer of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. — Spiders senior Rory Weinfurther has been named the Patriot League Golfer of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday. Weinfurther won the award for shooting a 2-under 214 at this week's RiverTowne Invitational in Charleston, S.C., where she led the Spiders to a first-place finish in the 15-team field.
Weinfurther opened with 2-under 70 in Round 1 Monday morning, then followed it with back-to-back rounds of 72 Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning to finish fourth among the 81 golfers in the field. It was the ninth top-five result of Weinfurther's career, and her 2-under score tied for the fourth-lowest tournament score in program history.
Richmond finished with a total team score of 5-over par (869), three shots in front of runner-up Coastal Carolina. The Spiders smashed the program record for lowest team tournament score, eclipsing their performance at the 2023 Patriot League Championship (+10) by five strokes.
Weinfurther and the Spiders will return to competition on March 15-17 at the Low Country Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C.
