Spiders One Back Entering Final Round of Low Country Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD, S.C. — Richmond will enter Sunday's final round at the Low Country Intercollegiate just one shot behind 36-hole leader East Tennessee State after the Spiders combined to shoot a team score of 302 (+14) Saturday at Moss Creek Golf Club. Richmond was led by sophomore Hannah Lydic in Round 2, as she registered five birdies to offset five bogeys and shoot an even-par 72, moving 10 shots up the leaderboard into a tie for second at 4-over par (148).
"Today I was seeing lines which nine times out of 10 will yield a low round," said Lydic. "It's something that I've been chasing all season so I'm super pumped to be here."
Richmond is 27-over par (603) through two rounds, one shot behind East Tennessee State and nine shots clear of third-place Western Carolina (+36) in the 16-team field.
Senior Rory Weinfurther is one shot behind Lydic on the individual leaderboard in fifth place at 5-over (149). Junior Lauren Jones is also in the top 10 at 8-over par (152), tied for ninth.
Sophomore Olivia Wilkie is tied for 20th at 10-over par (154), and freshman Maya Beasley is tied for 66th at 23-over (167).
Christine Mandile leads the three Spiders competing as individuals at 18-over par (162) through two rounds, tied for 51st. Heather Appelson is close behind at 20-over (164, tied for 56th) and Claire Yioulos is 28-over (172, tied for 81st).
Richmond will begin Sunday's final round with a shotgun start at 9:30 AM. The Spiders, winners of last month's Rivertowne Invitational, are seeking back-to-back tournament wins for the first time since 2017.
"Being in the lead or near it always comes with its thrills and nerves but I'm confident in the team's ability to fight for what we know we deserve. There's lots of talent on this team and I'm excited for us to show it off tomorrow," said Lydic.
