03/04/2024 | Men's Basketball
RICHMOND, Va. — Spiders guard Jordan King has been named A-10 Player of the Week for his performance in Richmond's wins over Saint Louis and VCU, the conference announced Monday. King averaged 27 points per game while shooting 52 percent from the field as the Spiders improved to 22-7 overall and 14-2 in the Atlantic 10, one win shy of clinching their first ever regular season A-10 championship.
Saturday vs cross-city rival VCU, King led all players with 27 points to lead Richmond to a 79-76 win in the Richmond Area Honda Dealers Capital City Classic. King made 7 of his 13 shots from the field, including 5-11 from three-point range and 8-10 from the foul line.
Wednesday at Saint Louis, King shot 7-9 from three-point range, matching the sixth-most three-pointers in a game in program history. He finished with a game-high 27 points as the Spiders dispatched the Billikens, 80-64.
King, who was named to the USBWA's Oscar Robertson National Player of the Year and All-America Watch Lists last week, also won the A-10 Player of the Week Award on January 15 and January 29. He is averaging 19.4 points per game, second in the A-10, and shooting 43.7 percent from three-point range, seventh best in Division I.
With one win in its final two regular season games — home vs Saint Joseph's on Wednesday (tickets) and at George Mason on Saturday — Richmond will clinch its first ever Atlantic 10 regular season championship.
