Spiders Add America East Rookie of Year Jonathan Beagle

RICHMOND, Va. — Jonathan Beagle, the 2023 America East Rookie of the Year at Albany, will transfer to Richmond and play for the Spiders this upcoming season.
Beagle, a 6'10" forward, appeared in 53 games with 48 starts for Albany over the last two seasons. Over that span, he led the Great Danes in total points and total rebounds, averaging 12.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.
As a freshman in 2022-23, Beagle appeared in all 31 games for Albany, averaging 12.4 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while making 29 starts and earning America East Rookie of the Week honors nine times, an Albany record. Following the season, he was selected to the America East All-Rookie Team and named the America East Rookie of the Year, the fifth Rookie of the Year in program history.
Last season, Beagle played in 22 games, scoring 12.5 points per game and grabbing 9.5 rebounds per contest. He finished second in the conference in rebounds per game while leading the America East with 2.8 offensive rebounds per game. Beagle also made 58.5 percent of his shots from the field, fifth highest in the conference among players with at least 150 field goal attempts. Beagle was one of eight players in D-I to average at least 12.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game while shooting 58 percent or better from the field last season.
Beagle hails from Hudson Falls, N.Y., and prepped at St. Thomas More school in Oakdale, Conn. There, he served as a team captain and earned All-State honors. He was the No. 12 Class of 2022 recruit in New England according to the New England Recruiting Report.
