RICHMOND, Va. — Apostolos Roumoglou, a 6'8" guard from Xanthi, Greece, will transfer to Richmond and play for the Spiders this upcoming season.
Roumoglou (ROOM-ahh-glue), a rising junior, appeared in 44 games over the last two seasons as Connecticut, helping the Huskies to consecutive NCAA National Championships. As a freshman in 2022-23, he played in 20 games, totaling six points and seven rebounds. As a sophomore last season, Roumoglou appeared in 24 of UConn's 40 games, registering 23 points and 11 rebounds.
Prior to enrolling at UConn, Roumoglou competed with PAOK Mateco in the Basketball Champions League in 2022. In 2021, he competed with Greece at the FIBA U18 European Challengers, averaging 8.4 points and 2.6 rebounds over five games.
Roumoglou will be the second Greek player on the Richmond roster, joining forward Ryan Soulis. He is the fourth member of Richmond's 2024 transfer class, joining guard George Washington III, a Michigan transfer, and forwards Jonathan Beagle, the 2023 America East Rookie of the Year at Albany, and Dusan Neskovic, who scored 16 points per game at Dartmouth last season.
