RICHMOND, Va. — Kirby Mooney, a 6'3" guard from William Tennent High School in Warminster, Pa., has signed with Richmond Men's Basketball and will join the program for the 2024-25 season, the team announced Thursday.
Mooney comes to Richmond as the all-time leading scorer at William Tennent, having recorded 1,431 points during his four seasons with the Panthers. He led District I with 23.5 points per game as a senior last season while leading William Tennent to a 15-8 record and a berth in the District I Class 6A playoffs. Mooney, who also added 7.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, was named to All-District, All-Area, and All-League teams for his performance.
As a junior, Mooney helped William Tennent to the Freedom Division Title in the Suburban One League, the program's first title since 2004, and a spot in the District I Class 6A playoffs. Mooney averaged 23.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per contest as the Panthers finished 16-8, with Mooney capturing All-Area and All-League honors.
Mooney played on the AAU circuit for the Penn Warriors. He is the nephew of Spiders head coach Chris Mooney. Mooney becomes the third freshman in Richmond's Class of 2024, joining Bryson McGlothin (Plano, Tex.) and Jaylen Robinson (Jacksonville, Fla.).
