DeGennaro Tabbed To Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List
08/21/2024 | Football
Richmond, Va. – University of Richmond wide receiver Nick DeGennaro has been named to the Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List, announced Wednesday. He is one of 10 CAA Football standouts to make the list.
The Reese's Senior Bowl is widely regarded as the preeminent college football all-star game and the first stage in the NFL Draft process. The longest continual-running all-star game has taken place in Mobile, Alabama the past 75 years. More than 900 NFL personnel, including key decision-makers from all 32 teams, and over 1100 media members from around the country were credentialed this year. This past April, the game produced 110 total picks, representing 43 percent of the entire NFL draft.
The watch list is comprised of the nation's top NFL Draft prospects and was selected by the Senior Bowl staff that includes 13 scouts with more than 200 years of NFL experience.
This year's 12th annual list is comprised of an all-time record 859 prospects. This total number is up significantly from past years due to the new addition of specialists and underclassmen, as well as the inclusion of many fifth and sixth-year seniors opting to use their extra Covid year of eligibility. All the prospects who made the cut were evaluated by our staff and tape-based grades were also logged on hundreds of other senior prospects who ultimately did not make the list.
DeGennaro finds his name on the list after the 2023 season saw him start all 13 games on his way to being named Second Team All-CAA. He tied the program record for touchdowns in a single season, hauling in 11. He recorded 71 receptions for 904 yards and averaged 5.5 receptions and 54.8 yards per game. He recorded three touchdowns in a win over Maine, tying the program record for most in a single game. Against No. 22, Rhode Island, he caught a career-long 69 yard reception and scored two touchdowns to help Richmond pull off the upset win. Earlier this month he was named to the Shrine Bowl 1000, recognizing the top college football players in the country. So far this offseason he's been named Preseason All-CAA and Preseason All-America by Phil Steele, named to the Shrine Bowl 1000, was named Preseason All-Conference by the CAA, a preseason All-American by FCS Football Central and was tabbed the fifth-best wide receiver returning in 2024 by HERO Sports.
DeGennaro and the rest of the Spiders begin the 2024 season when they travel to Virginia on Aug. 31. Game time is set for 6 p.m. at Scott Stadium.
