Men’s Basketball Announces Atlantic 10 Schedule
09/24/2024 | Men's Basketball
RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond will play six nationally televised games as part of its 2024-25 Atlantic 10 schedule, the conference announced Tuesday. The Spiders will defend their 2024 A-10 regular season title during an 18-game conference campaign that features matchups against major rivals, late-season contests that could impact the top of the A-10, and a home date vs Loyola Chicago, who shared the 2024 A-10 regular season championship with Richmond.
"The Atlantic 10 presents a tremendous challenge, and I have every expectation that this conference season will be closely contested," said Spiders head coach Chris Mooney, who is entering his 20th season at Richmond. "After last year, we know we are going to get every team's best game in conference play, so we'll need to use our non-conference schedule to get us ready for a tough A-10 season."
Richmond's 2024-25 roster includes nine newcomers, the most in Mooney's tenure at Richmond, and eight returners, including starting point guard DeLonnie Hunt, center Mike Walz, sharpshooter Jason Roche, and more. Fans wishing to purchase new season tickets can do so by calling the Richmond Athletics Ticket Office at 1-877-SPIDER-1. Single-game tickets and mini-plans will go on sale in October.
The Spiders will begin their 24th Atlantic 10 season — but first as defending regular-season champs — on New Year's Eve against George Washington at the Robins Center, where UR went 15-1 last season.
Richmond will visit Massachusetts on January 4 and George Mason on January 8 before returning to the Robins Center on January 11 to host Rhode Island.
Following a trip to St. Bonaventure on January 15, the Spiders will play back-to-back games on Saturday at the Robins Center: first against Saint Louis on January 18 (on USA Network) and then against Davidson on January 25.
Richmond finishes January with a road game at George Washington on January 29 and starts February with a short trip to intracity rival VCU on February 1. That game, part of the two-game Capital City Classic presented by Richmond Area Honda Dealers, will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
The Spiders will host Duquesne on February 5 then play a road game on national TV for the second straight Saturday, taking on Davidson on February 8 on USA Network.
Richmond and Loyola Chicago, the two teams that shared the 2024 Atlantic 10 regular season title, will face each other at the Robins Center on February 11. UR will remain at home for its next game, a home date vs Fordham on February 15.
Philadelphia hosts the Spiders for a pair of games the following week, as UR visits La Salle on February 19 and Saint Joseph's on February 22 on USA Network. The matchup with the Hawks starts a streak of three straight national broadcast games for the Spiders, who will host VCU on February 25 on CBS Sports Network and visit Dayton on March 1, also on CBS Sports Network.
Richmond's regular season schedule concludes at home vs George Mason on March 8. The 2025 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship will be held from March 12-16 at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., the site of UR's 2022 A-10 tournament victory.
Tip-off times and full TV broadcast information for all Richmond games will be updated on RichmondSpiders.com as it becomes available. Home games and Atlantic 10 games not shown on national television will be streamed on ESPN+ as part of the Atlantic 10's digital rights agreement.
