09/04/2024 | Women's Basketball
RICHMOND, Va. – Jeanine Radice has been promoted to associate head coach, women's basketball head coach Aaron Roussell announced on Wednesday.
"I'm very happy for Jeanine and also very grateful for her years of service to the coaching staff, our players and our program," Roussell said. "Coach Radice is a tireless worker who has been a big reason for the program's rise and success over the last five years. Jeanine deserves this and I know we are both very driven to lead Spider women's basketball to even greater achievements this year and beyond."
Radice enters her sixth season with the Spider Women's Basketball program in 2024-25 and has spent the last five seasons as assistant coach.
"I would like to thank Coach Roussell and the administration for this recognition and their continued support," Radice said. "It's an honor to help build a championship caliber program at such a prestigious university and I've enjoyed helping develop young players and up-and-coming assistant coaches with my energy, passion and experience. It's been an exciting five years culminating with an A-10 Championship crown and a NCAA tournament appearance. I'm looking forward to continuing the championship tradition here at Richmond."
Richmond finished on top of the A-10 standings with help from Radice in 2023-24 as the team notched its first A-10 regular season crown en route to an A-10 championship title. The championship marked the first title for the program since 1991 in the CAA. In addition to winning the A-10, the Spiders also notched an appearance in the 2024 NCAA Women's Basketball Championship, where UR took on Duke in the opening round in Columbus, Ohio. Radice, who works closely with Spider guards, helped coach Ally Sweeney to A-10 Rookie of the Week honors during the season as well as Grace Townsend to A-10 All-Conference First Team, All-Championship Team honors and All-Academic accolades during the record-breaking season.
The Spiders finished the 2023-24 season leading the A-10 in assists per game, blocks per game, field goal percentage, scoring offense, three pointers per game, three-point percentage and win percentage. Richmond finished the season with a NET ranking of 52, the highest in the A-10, and went 8-5 against NET teams 100+ and 15-0 against teams below 150.
Prior to Richmond, Radice spent two years at Bucknell and two seasons at Seaton Hall and Marist, respectively, as an assistant coach. She also spent 21 seasons at Delaware as associate head coach. During that time, Radice saw seven appearances in the NCAA Tournament and eight appearances in the WNIT.
Radice, a Staten Island, N.Y. native earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Fordham in 1989 and went on to earn a master's degree in education at her alma mater in 1990.
A two-sport star in women's basketball and cross country for the Rams, Radice was inducted into the Fordham Athletics Hall of Fame in 1995. She was the 1989 MAAC Women's Basketball Player of the Year and the 1985 Rookie of the Year. A three-time First Team All-MAAC selection, Radice ranks second in program history in scoring with 2,417 career points and field goal percentage (.475) and is the record holder in scoring average (21.8).
