RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball team has the honor of highlighting junior Maggie Doogan as this week's Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday. This is Doogan's second weekly honor as she picked up the honor on Dec. 9, 2024, and third of the season for the team as Rachel Ullstrom picked up Co-Player of the Week honors on Nov. 11, 2024.
Doogan had a standout week in A-10 action, leading the team to two A-10 wins over George Mason and Davidson, averaging 34.8 ppg, 5.5 rpg and 5 apg to match a 61.8 FG%, 44.4 3FG% and a 94.4 FT%, only missing one free throw through two games (17-18).
The junior finished the game against George Mason shooting 12-for-18 from the floor, 3-for-6 from deep and 10-for-11 from the free throw line for a career-high 37 points, tied for fourth-most in Spider women's basketball history. She finished the night matching a career-high eight assists, four rebounds, one block and two steals.
Against Davidson, Doogan again led the team with 26 points and moved into Richmond's top 20 leading scorers. She passed Johanna McKnight (1,106 points) and Saona Chapman (1,100 points) to claim the No. 20 spot on the all-time scoring list with 1,121 career points. Doogan was just shy of a double-double with a team-high seven rebounds and added two assists and one steal to her stat line.
The Spiders continue conference play on Wednesday, as the team plays host to St. Bonaventure at 6 p.m., and will welcome crosstown rival VCU to the Robins Center on Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. for the MLK Jr. Day/ Pow(Her) On and National Girls and Women in Sports Day Celebration Presented by CarMax.
