RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball team returns to the Robins Center on Sunday, Feb. 2, at 2 p.m. to take on Rhode Island in the Play4Kay/Breast Cancer Awareness Game, presented by Joyner Fine Properties.
The annual Play4Kay game supports the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, which raises money for life-saving cancer research and programs providing access to quality cancer care for underserved communities. Fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of the cause, and the first 250 attendees will receive a free pink T-shirt.
Head Coach Aaron Roussell and his wife, Molly, will personally donate $20 for every Spider assist recorded in Sunday's game, honoring the memory of Molly's mother, Anne Abernethy.
Richmond (17-5, 8-1 A-10) enters the contest on a seven-game winning streak, most recently securing an 83-72 victory over Dayton. Maggie Doogan led the Spiders with 26 points and 11 rebounds, marking her second double-double of the season. Addie Budnik (14 pts), Rachel Ullstrom (16 pts) and Katie Hill (13 pts) also scored in double figures.
The Spiders have a 22-10 all-time record against Rhode Island and won all three meetings last season, including a 65-51 victory in the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championship final.
Fans attending the game should arrive early, as new metal detectors will be in place at all entrances. Tickets can be purchased online, and donations to the Play4Kay Fund can be made through the Richmond women's basketball team page.
