Cross Country Announces 2025 Athletes of the Year

RICHMOND, Va. — The University of Richmond cross country program has recognized four standout student-athletes as its 2025 Spiders Athletes of the Year. This year's honorees — Hallie Muniz, Henry Haase, Alyson Stepp and Andy Condon — were selected for their competitive excellence, consistency and leadership on and off the course.

Women's Athlete of the Year: Hallie Muniz
Â
Sophomore Hallie Muniz opened the season with a 14:04.6 finish in the 4K at the Spider Alumni Open, helping Richmond place third. She followed with a 17:40.0 performance for 12th in the 5K at the UVA Invitational and later ran a personal-best 20:51 in the 6K at the Princeton Invitational.

Muniz placed sixth at the Atlantic 10 Championship in 21:19.0 to earn A-10 All-Conference honors. She then led Richmond at the NCAA Southeast Regional with a 20:54.0 finish. A pre-business major, Muniz also earned a spot on the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team.

Men's Athlete of the Year: Henry Haase

Junior Henry Haase began the fall with an 18:32.4 showing in the 6K at the Spider Alumni Open. He ran 24:16.5 in the 8K at the Coastal Carolina Chanticleer Challenge, contributing to Richmond's team win. Haase later posted times of 24:37.8 at the Louisville Classic and 25:01.1 at the Princeton Invitational before taking 25th at the A-10 Championship in 24:44.4.
Haase closed the season as Richmond's top finisher at the NCAA Southeast Regional, running 32:23.7 in the 10K.

Women's Rookie of the Year: Alyson Stepp

Freshman Alyson Stepp earned Atlantic 10 All-Rookie honors after placing as the fifth-fastest freshman at the A-10 Championship with a 22:16.1 finish in the 6K. She recorded a personal-best 21:49.8 at the Princeton Fall Classic and was Richmond's No. 4 runner at the NCAA Southeast Regional, placing among the top 30 freshmen.

Men's Rookie of the Year: Andy Condon
Freshman Andy Condon opened his collegiate career with a 12th-place finish in 18:30.5 at the Spider Alumni Open, ranking as the second-fastest freshman in the 6K field. He later placed second overall in the 8K at the Coastal Carolina Chanticleer Challenge in 23:46.7, leading Richmond to a team win.

Condon placed 40th at the A-10 Championship in 24:56.9, finishing as the sixth-fastest freshman and securing A-10 All-Rookie Team honors.
