RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond forward Maggie Doogan has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week after powering the Spiders to a 3-0 week to close non-conference play.
Doogan averaged 23.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game while shooting 55.6 percent from the field, anchoring Richmond's offense in wins over Bethune-Cookman, Alabama A&M and Penn State. She capped the week with a dominant 30-point performance in a neutral-site victory over the Lady Lions, playing all 40 minutes while adding five rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks. Richmond also held PSU to its lowest point total of the season in the victory.
Earlier in the week, Doogan scored 26 points against Bethune-Cookman while adding 11 rebounds and six assists. She followed with a well-rounded 15-point, seven-rebound, six-assist effort versus Alabama A&M, helping the Spiders finish non-conference play at 11-3 overall, and picking up an A-10 win during the stretch.
This marks Doogan's fifth Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honor of the season and the 11th weekly conference recognition of her career.
The Spiders resume Atlantic 10 Conference play with a pair of road contests, beginning with a trip to Kingston, R.I., to face Rhode Island on Dec. 30 before opening the new year at St. Bonaventure on Jan. 3.
