RALEIGH, N.C. — The Richmond Spiders carded Rounds of 19-over par and 23-over par and sit in eighth place at 42-over par in the 17-team field with one round to play at the City of Oaks Collegiate. The seven teams in front of the Spiders on the leaderboard include five teams in the top 100 of the NCAA Division I rankings including top-50 teams NC State (No. 41) and Campbell (No. 48).
Sophomore Maya Beasley is the top Spider on the individual leaderboard at 7-over par (151), tied for 15th among the 95 golfers in the field. Beasley's sparkling 2-over 74 in Round 1 Friday morning had her in sixth place entering Round 2 Friday afternoon.
Junior Hannah Lydic led Richmond with a 2-over 74 in Round 2, shooting 13 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 21st at 9-over par. Lydic played her best late in the long day, shooting 1-under in her final eight holes at Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
"I honestly just wanted to have the most fun that I could out there," said Lydic. "Lonnie Poole is challenge but if you're able to have the right mindset that changes the game a bit. I'm proud of the team today because we all seemed to attack the course and not let the challenge get to us."
Junior Olivia Wilkie is tied for 29th at 12-over par, two shots in front of freshman Katie Magner, who's tied for 43rd at 14-over par.
Senior Christine Mandile is tied for 82nd at 25-over par, while fellow senior Lauren Jones, competing as an individual, is tied for 73rd at 21-over par.
Tee times for Saturday's final round will begin at 8 AM.
