Le Du Earns First A-10 Weekly Honor After Leading Spiders to Perfect Weekend

RICHMOND, Va. – Women's tennis graduate Claire Le Du has been tabbed the final Atlantic 10 Under Armour Player of the Week after a standout weekend for the Spiders, helping UR close out the regular season with back-to-back conference sweeps. The weekly award is the first of Le Du's career and the sixth of the season for the Spiders.
Le Du continued her steady play in both singles and doubles, contributing key wins as Richmond extended its winning streak to nine straight matches.
On Friday against Saint Joseph's, Le Du and Lainey O'Neil rolled to a 6-1 win on court three in doubles over Addison Melfi and Claudia Perez-Garcia (SJU), helping Richmond secure the opening point. In singles, Le Du led Victoria Tracey (SJU) 6-1, 5-7, 1-0 on court three when the match was left unfinished in the Spiders' 4-0 victory.
The following day, Le Du helped Richmond to another 4-0 win, this time over George Washington. She and O'Neil picked up a 6-4 win in doubles on court three against Karen Verduzco and Alejandra Ramirez, then backed it up with a strong showing in singles, defeating Ramirez 6-3, 6-3 on court four to cap off the weekend.
