Men's Basketball Renews Series Against Old Dominion
04/23/2025 | Men's Basketball
RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond men's basketball will begin a home-and-home series against longtime rival Old Dominion this season, the program announced Wednesday. UR will host the Monarchs at the Robins Center during the 2025-26 season and play a road game at ODU in 2026-27.
"I'm thrilled to add another traditional rival back to our non-conference schedule," said Spiders coach Chris Mooney. "We've played some great games against Old Dominion during my time at Richmond, and I have so much respect for the ODU program and its place in the great basketball tradition in that region. I'm looking forward to welcoming them to the Robins Center this season and visiting Norfolk the following year."
The one-time CAA rivals have met 61 times, with ODU holding a 33-28 advantage. The teams last played on December 19, 2021, in the Robins Center, with the Spiders winning 67-61. Richmond is 9-7 vs Old Dominion under Mooney, including 7-2 in the Robins Center.
In recent years, Richmond has re-added in-state rivals VMI and William & Mary to its non-conference schedule. Announcements about additional non-conference opponents for the 2025-26 season are forthcoming.
Fans can make a deposit to reserve new season tickets for the upcoming season now. The season ticket renewal process will commence this summer.
