Lydic, Beasley Enter Top 50 at NCAA Regionals in Charlottesville

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Hannah Lydic and Maya Beasley lead the Spiders through 36 holes at the NCAA Women's Golf Regional in Charlottesville. Lydic, a junior and the individual medalist at last month's A-10 Championship, is tied for 47th at 10-over par (152). Beasley, a sophomore and Richmond's leader in scoring average this season, is tied for 49th at 11-over par (153). As a team, Richmond is in 12th place at 53-over par (621) after combining for a score of 24-over par (308) in Round 2, a five-shot improvement from Round 1.
Lydic played her first seven holes in 4-over par Tuesday before stringing together nine pars and a pair of birdies over her final 11 holes. Her 2-over 73 Tuesday was six shots better than her opening round score and moved her up 10 spots on the individual leaderboard.
Beasley also improved in Round 2, shooting a 4-over 75 after opening with a 7-over 78 on Monday. After a double-bogey on the 18th hole, Beasley made eight consecutive pars before bogeying the difficult par-3 9th hole, her final hole of the day. She has played the par 5s at Birdwood Golf Course in a combined 2-under par, tied for eighth best in the field.
Freshman Caroline Thompson is tied for 53rd place at 14-over par (156). Junior Olivia Wilkie is in 60th place at 18-over (160), two shots in front of freshman Katie Magner, who is in 63rd.
The Spiders are eight shots behind 11th-place Radford entering Wednesday's third and final round.
UR will be paired with Radford and Charleston for Round 3, with tee times beginning at 8:55 AM on the 10th hole.
