Women’s Basketball Announces Atlantic 10 Conference Slate
09/26/2025 | Women's Basketball
RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball program and the Atlantic 10 Conference unveiled the Spiders' 2025-26 league schedule Friday, highlighted by nine contests inside the Robins Center and two nationally televised matchups on the ESPN Networks.
Richmond will tip off A-10 play earlier than usual opening at home Dec. 3 against Loyola Chicago. The home contest against the Ramblers marks the second-straight year the Spiders will open league play at home as the team began last year's conference slate at home against Dayton. Following the matchup with the Ramblers, Richmond will close the calendar year on the road at Rhode Island on Dec. 31.
"We know the A-10 has been on the rise the last several years and expect that trend to continue," said head coach Aaron Roussell, entering his seventh season at the helm. "Conference play will be incredibly challenging again, but I trust our non-conference slate will have us ready for what is ahead. I don't think anyone wants to sit around for a month staring at an 0-1 record, so that first game is vitally important. Especially with it being at home, we take great pride in protecting our court, and it will be exciting to open league play in front of our fans."
The new year opens with three games in seven days, starting at St. Bonaventure on Jan. 3 before returning home to face Fordham on Jan. 7 and Davidson on Jan. 10. The Spiders then travel to Dayton on Jan. 14 before hosting crosstown rival VCU on Jan. 18 riding a five-game win streak against the Rams. Following a bye on Jan. 21, Richmond hits the road for a nationally televised matchup at George Mason on Jan. 25.
"The national TV games and Saturday night home games are always special," Roussell said. "Any opportunity to showcase our program on a national stage helps grow Spiders Basketball and our university. This group works hard, has embraced the expectations from last season, and knows the standard of this program is to get back to the NCAA Tournament."
The Spiders round out January with a home contest against Duquesne on Jan. 28 before their second ESPN Networks appearance, a Feb. 1 road matchup inside the Siegel Center at VCU. Richmond then visits Saint Louis on Feb. 4 before a two-game homestand with George Mason on Feb. 7 and St. Bonaventure on Feb. 11.
Richmond travels to Davidson on Feb. 14 and George Washington on Feb. 18 before closing the regular season home slate with La Salle on Feb. 22 and Rhode Island on Feb. 25. The Spiders will then take on Saint Joseph's on Feb. 28 in Philadelphia for the only matchup against the Hawks this season to round out regular season action.
Richmond enters the season coming off its first NCAA Tournament win in program history. The Spiders return Atlantic 10 Player of the Year Maggie Doogan, who averaged 17.0 points and 7.1 rebounds, and All-Conference guard Rachel Ullstrom, who surpassed 1,000 career points last winter. Point guard Ally Sweeney and veterans Sam Dewey, Alicia Newell, Payton Richard, Annika Manthy and Jada Green also return. Richmond adds transfers Tierra Simon (Saint Louis) and Skylah Travis (Louisiana/Missouri) along with freshmen Rayne Wright, Ava Persichetti, Aneisha Scott and Shaneka Campbell to round out the roster.
"This team looks a lot different than in recent years," Roussell added. "We've been really old and experienced the last two seasons, and now some younger and more inexperienced players will need to step into bigger roles. That will be a key for us as we move through conference play."
Tip-off times and broadcast assignments will be updated throughout the season on RichmondSpiders.com. Home games not selected for national television will stream live on ESPN+ as part of the Atlantic 10's digital rights package.
Single-game tickets and mini-plans will go on sale in early October for the 2025-26 season. If you have any questions, please call the Richmond Athletics Ticket Office at 1-877-SPIDER-1 to speak to a ticket office representative.
