RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond forward Maggie Doogan has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week after delivering a historic performance that powered the Spiders to a 2-0 week with conference wins over Fordham and Davidson.
Doogan averaged 33.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game while shooting 58.5 percent from the field, 55.6 percent from three-point range and 88.9 percent at the free throw line this week.
She authored one of the most memorable performances in program history in a triple-overtime win over Davidson, scoring 48 points to set a new Richmond single-game scoring record. The total marked the most points scored in an NCAA Division I game this season and the highest single-game total in Atlantic 10 Conference history. Doogan also broke the program record for field goals made, finishing 17-of-28 from the field, including 8-of-12 from three-point range, while adding 13 rebounds for her 18th career double-double.
Earlier in the week, Doogan posted 18 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in a home win over Fordham. Across the two games, she totaled 66 points and 23 rebounds, anchoring Richmond's offense in both victories.
The triple-overtime contest marked Richmond's first since March 5, 1999, while the Spiders handed Davidson its first Atlantic 10 Conference loss of the season and extended their league home winning streak to 27 games.
This marks Doogan's sixth Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honor this season and the 12th weekly conference recognition of her career.
Richmond returns to action on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. road game at Dayton before hosting its Operation: Code Red game against VCU on Jan. 18 at noon inside the Robins Center. The rivalry matchup will air nationally on CBS Sports Network, presented by CarMax.
