RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond forward Maggie Doogan has been named to the Becky Hammon Player of the Year Award midseason watch list, as announced Wednesday by Her Hoop Stats.
Doogan is one of 15 players nationally selected to the midseason list and one of two representatives from the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Becky Hammon Player of the Year Award honors the top mid-major player in Division I women's basketball.
Through 20 games this season, Doogan is averaging 23.2 points, 8.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game while shooting 51.6 percent from the field, 42.6 percent from three-point range and 87.2 percent at the free throw line. She ranks among the national leaders in scoring and efficiency while logging 35.4 minutes per contest.
The Richmond forward has posted 12 games of 25 or more points this season, highlighted by a program-record 48-point performance in a triple-overtime win over Davidson on Jan. 10. The outing marked the most points scored in a Division I game this season and established new program records for single-game scoring and field goals made.
Doogan has scored in double figures in every game this season and has topped the 30-point mark three times. She has also been a consistent presence across the stat sheet, averaging 1.1 steals and 1.3 blocks per game while ranking among the Atlantic 10 leaders in rebounds and assists.
The Becky Hammon Player of the Year Award was first presented in 2020. Finalists and the award winner will be announced following the conclusion of the regular season.
