LYNCHBURG, Va. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team opened the 2026 spring season with a 7-0 setback at Liberty on Friday afternoon at the Liberty Indoor Tennis Center. The loss moves the Spiders to 0-1 on the spring, while the Flames improved to 1-2.

How It Happened
Liberty claimed the opening point by taking the two completed doubles matches on courts two and one. Cole Brashear and Davis Wiley fell 6-4 on court one, while Sam Rathmanner and Paxton Pritchard dropped a 6-3 decision on court two. The third doubles contest was left unfinished.

In singles play, Liberty won all six matches to clinch the contest. Davis Wiley battled tightly on court one before falling 7-5, 6-1, while Paxton Pritchard pushed his match to three sets on court three but came up short. Otto Sewell also forced a first-set tiebreak on court four in a straight-set loss.
