Spiders Sweep Monthly A10 Women's Golf Honors

RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond senior Maya Beasley has been named the Atlantic 10 Women's Golfer of the Month for September, while freshman Stella Moritz was selected as the conference's Women's Golf Rookie of the Month, the A10 announced Thursday.
Beasley, the A10 individual champion last season, led Richmond with a 72.00 scoring average across six rounds in September. She finished both the Nittany Lion Invitational and Bettie Lou Evans Invitational at even-par 216, tying for 23rd at Penn State and 16th at Kentucky.
Beasley recorded three rounds under par during the month, including a season-low 2-under 70 in the final round of the Nittany Lion Invitational. She closed the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational with consecutive rounds of 1-under 71 to earn the 18th top-20 finish of her career.
Moritz posted a 73.17 scoring average over the first six rounds of her collegiate career. She opened her season by tying for 45th at 6-over par (222) at the Nittany Lion Invitational, closing the event with a 1-under 71.
At the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational, Moritz recorded rounds of 74, a career-low 2-under 70, and 73 to tie for 19th at 1-over par (217). The performance marked the first top-20 finish of her collegiate career.
Beasley and Moritz helped Richmond place seventh in the 13-team field at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational, moving up one position during the final round.
Following the team's fall break trip to Ireland, the Spiders will return to competitive play Oct. 19-20 when they host the Spider Invitational at Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, Va.
