Doogan Named to Katrina McClain Award Midseason Top 10

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond women's basketball forward Maggie Doogan has been named one of 10 midseason candidates for the 2026 Katrina McClain Award, as announced Thursday by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in partnership with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
The Katrina McClain Award recognizes the nation's top power forward in women's college basketball. Doogan represents Richmond among a national list that includes players from Baylor, Duke, Iowa, Louisville, NC State, South Carolina, Tennessee, UConn and Vanderbilt.
Doogan has put together one of the most productive seasons in program history, averaging 22.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game while shooting 52.3 percent from the field and 43.1 percent from three-point range through 23 games. She leads Richmond in scoring, rebounding and assists and ranks among the national leaders in points per game.
A versatile presence on both ends of the floor, Doogan has recorded 14 games with at least 20 points this season, including a career-high 48-point performance against Davidson on Jan. 10.
A four-year contributor for the Spiders, Doogan has totaled 1,937 career points and 792 rebounds, ranking among the program's all-time leaders in both categories through 106 starts.
Fan voting for the Katrina McClain Award will open Friday, Feb. 6, at hoophallawards.com. Fan voting will count as one vote during the finalist selection process.
The Midseason Top 10 list will be narrowed to five candidates in mid-March, with finalists advancing to the selection committee later that month. The winner of the Katrina McClain Award will be announced later in the season as part of the Naismith Starting Five Awards.
