Spiders Fifth After 1st Round in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Richmond Spiders women's golf team finds itself in fifth place at the City of Oaks Collegiate after shooting a team score of 15-over par (303) Sunday at Lonnie Poole Golf Course. The Spiders are just a shot behind three teams tied for second — Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, and Oral Roberts — and seven shots behind leader NC State in the 13-team field.
Richmond was led by junior Maya Beasley Monday. Beasley made the turn in 3-under par at Lonnie Poole Golf Course and held on for a 1-over 73. Beasley is tied for third on the individual leaderboard, two shots behind 18-hole leader Frances Kim of Boston College.
Freshman Addie Doroh is tied for 13th at 3-over par (75) after playing her final four holes in 2-under par.
Senior Hannah Lydic is tied for 25th at 5-over par (77), one shot in front of senior Olivia Wilkie, who is tied for 38th at 6-over par.
Sophomore Katie Magner is tied for 62nd at 10-over par (82).
The Spiders combined for 10 birdies Monday, tied for second most of any team.
Monday's second round will begin at 8 AM, with the first Spider (Magner) beginning at 8:50 AM.
