RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team split a Friday doubleheader at the Westhampton Tennis Complex, falling 4-2 to James Madison before closing the day with a 7-0 victory over Randolph-Macon. With the results, the Spiders move to 4-6 on the spring season, while the Dukes improve to 7-3 and the Yellow Jackets fall to 1-5.

How It Happened
James Madison opened the afternoon by claiming the doubles point with a win on court three. Cole Brashear and Davis Wiley earned a 6-3 victory over Esteve Agusti and Francisco Sinopoli at the top spot, and Charlie Burdell and Otto Sewell added a 6-3 decision against Grant Kroodsma and Ryan Morgan on court three. The match on court two featuring Paxton Pritchard and Sam Rathmanner against Zach Fleishman and Aurelien Schmitt was left unfinished with James Madison leading 5-3, giving the Dukes the early advantage.

The Dukes extended their lead in singles play, taking four completed matches to secure the team win. Davis Wiley earned Richmond's first point with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) victory over Esteve Agusti at No. 1 singles. James Madison answered with straight-set wins from Ryan Morgan on court three and Zach Fleishman on court five before Gur Libal defeated Nathan Germino 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 at No. 6 to seal the match. Francisco Sinopoli later added a three-set win at No. 4 singles, while the match on court two between Charlie Burdell and Aurelien Schmitt was left unfinished in the third set.

Richmond bounced back in the evening match against Randolph-Macon, sweeping all three doubles courts to take early control. Brashear and Wiley posted a 6-0 victory over Winston Chapman and John Paul Zano on court one. Charlie Burdell and Nathan Germino followed with a 6-1 win against Evan Holzmacher and Caleb Privett on court two, and Drew Holland and Sam Rathmanner completed the sweep with a 6-0 decision against Jayden Alexander and Resse Whitt on court three.

The Spiders carried that momentum into singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets. Wiley opened the scoring with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over John Paul Zano at the top spot. Burdell followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win against Evan Holzmacher on court two, and Germino added a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Winston Chapman at No. 3. Rathmanner defeated Harris Wadsworth 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4, Grant Cohen posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Caleb Privett at No. 5 and Drew Holland closed the afternoon with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Jayden Alexander on court six.
