ORLANDO, Fla. — The Richmond Spiders will enter Wednesday's final round of the Atlantic 10 Women's Golf Championship with a 25-stroke lead as UR outpaced the field by double digits for a second straight day Tuesday. Richmond combined to shoot 15-over par in Round 2 and is 34-over par for the tournament, soundly ahead of second-place Loyola Chicago (+59), third-place Dayton (+61), and the three other teams in the field.
Junior Maya Beasley's even-par 72 was three shots better than any other player in field Tuesday. At 1-over par (145), she has a six-shot lead on the individual leaderboard with 18 holes to play. Beasley closed her round with the day's only birdie on the par-4 18th hole, which played as the most difficult hole at Evermore Resort Tuesday.
Senior Olivia Wilkie is in third place at 10-over par (154) after a second-straight 77 (+5) Tuesday. Wilkie played her first 14 holes in 1-under par before falling back on Evermore's difficult closing stretch.
Senior Hannah Lydic is one shot back in a tie for fourth at 11-over par (155). She made 15 pars Tuesday, and her 26 pars through two rounds are two more than any other golfer in the field.
Sophomore Katie Magner and freshman Addie Doroh are both tied for seventh at 14-over par (158). Magner's 77 Tuesday was four shots better than her Monday effort.
The Spiders, who won the inaugural A-10 Women's Golf title last year, will begin Wednesday's final round at 8:15 AM.
