RICHMOND, Va. – Three members of the University of Richmond women's tennis team earned recognition on the 2026 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Tuesday. Sofia Barbulescu, Abby Lee and Lucy Webber were honored for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Barbulescu collects Academic All-District honors after earning First Team All-Atlantic 10 recognition for the second straight season in 2026. Competing exclusively at No. 1 singles, the sophomore posted eight dual-match victories while facing each opponent's top player throughout the season. She closed the year with wins in four of her final five completed matches, including a three-set conference victory over Davidson's Savanna Kollock.
Lee garnered her first CSC Academic All-District selection following a breakout sophomore campaign for the Spiders. She earned All-Atlantic 10 First Team honors after totaling 11 singles victories during dual-match play, primarily at the No. 5 position. Lee also contributed in doubles action throughout the spring and helped Richmond advance to the Atlantic 10 Championship semifinals for the fourth straight season.
Webber secured her first Academic All-District nod after a strong junior season that included All-Atlantic 10 Second Team recognition. Webber finished with a team-best 12 singles wins during the dual season while competing across the middle and lower portions of the lineup. She added multiple key conference victories and paired with several partners in doubles play throughout the year.
Academic All-District honorees must maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average while meeting competition requirements. All three Spiders now advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America selections scheduled to be announced in June.
