Barbulescu Advances at ITA All-American Championships

CARY, NC – Richmond women's tennis student-athlete Sophia Barbulescu won her first match Saturday, Sept. 19 at the 2026 ITA All-American Championships to advance in the single elimination tournament.

Barbulescu defeated University of Iowa's Mia Soso 6-1 in the first set, dropped the second set 5-7, before regrouping to take the third set handily 6-1 in the singles competition round of 256.

With the victory she advances to face Kenzie Nquyen of Columbia University on Sunday in the round of 128.
