Â
Corley, who was inducted into the William & Mary Hall of Fame in 2014, finished his quarterback career with 27 program records for the Tribe. He held the top spot in Atlantic 10 Conference history and was 10th all-time in NCAA FCS history with 10,948 yards of total offense upon graduation. He passed for a school-record 9,805 yards, finishing his career ranked 12th all-time in NCAA FCS history and his 73 passing touchdowns were 24th all-time in the FCS. He was a four-time All-Conference selection and twice was the runner-up for The Dudley Award presented by the Downtown Club of Richmond for the Most Outstanding Player in the state of Virginia.
Â
Corley joins the Spiders after coaching the running backs at South Carolina State in 2020-21, helping the Bulldogs to a MEAC-leading 3-1 record this spring. South Carolina State led the MEAC in yards per game at 4.8 and rushing touchdowns in the shortened season.
Â
Corley was chosen for the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship with the Carolina Panthers this summer helping with the start of training camp. He participated in the Bill Walsh Fellowship in 2019 with the Houston Texans, working with the running backs during their AFC South Division championship season.
Â
Corley spent the 2018 season as the wide receivers coach at Penn State. He guided KJ Hamler to a Penn State freshmen record of 1,417 all-purpose yards, breaking Saquon Barkley’s record. He spent one year (2017) at Army as the wide receivers coach helping the Black Knights win the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy for the first time since 1996 on its way to a school-record 10-wins.
Â
Corley spent three seasons at Connecticut (2014-16), working two years with the running backs and one season as the wide receivers coach. He was the Huskies offensive coordinator in 2016. Additionally, he was the team’s Director of Player Engagement all three years, while working two years as the Special Teams Coordinator. In his two seasons working with the running backs, Arkeel Newsome eclipsed the 1,000 all-purpose yards twice, including a 1,400-all-purpose yard season in 2016.
Â
Corley is no stranger to coaching in the Colonial Athletic Association, having spent six seasons on the sidelines of his alma mater William & Mary from 2008-2013. He mentored the Tribe’s running backs, quarterbacks and wide receivers for two years each during his time. He also spent the 2011-12 seasons as the assistant offensive coordinator and was the passing game coordinator in 2013.
Â
Corley mentored many All-Conference selections during his time in Williamsburg, including running back Jonathan Grimes for two seasons. He helped Grimes earned CAA Rookie of the Year honors in 2008 and First Team All-Conference honors in 2009. He was also part of two NCAA FCS Playoff appearances with the Tribe, including a quarterfinal appearance in 2010.
Â
Corley also was chosen for the Bill Walsh Minority Coaching Fellowship two more times early in his career, working with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2010 (quarterbacks) and the Carolina Panthers in 2013 (wide receivers).
Â
Prior to becoming a coach, Corley spent time playing in the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the Arena Football League. He played for the Hamilton Tiger Cats (2003) and the Calgary Stampeders (2006) in the CFL while spending time with the New York Dragons (2005) of the AFL.
Â
Corley graduated from William & Mary with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history in 2002. He and his wife Brianne have been married for 13 years. They have two children – a daughter named Charlie and a son named Bishop.Â
