Kelly Self joined Richmond as the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach in June 2023. Self is responsible for creating appropriate weight training and conditioning protocols for women’s basketball and women’s tennis and is also responsible for load management, nutrition and recovery education for student-athletes.
Prior to Richmond, Self spent eight years as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach for women’s basketball, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, volleyball, and men’s golf at UNC-Greensboro.
A 2010 graduate of the University of Lynchburg, Self received a Bachelor of Science in exercise physiology and a M.S.Ed. in Sport Management from Old Dominion University in 2014.
At Lynchburg, Self played softball all 4 years and had three NCAA Regional appearances and a D3 College World series appearance in 2008.
A Christiansburg, Va. native, Self is CSCCA SCCC and NSCA CSCS certified.
