Pitt Field, located on the campus of the University of Richmond, offers players and fans a unique and enjoyable setting for America's pastime.
One of the most pristine diamonds in collegiate baseball sits in a quaint ballpark surrounded by large trees, Pitt Field opened in March of 1975. The field sits on a hill overlooking Westhampton Lake, the most scenic part of the Richmond campus.
Pitt Field's left and right field lines measure 328 feet from home plate, while the power alleys are 365 feet. The 10-foot fence in center field is 390 feet from home plate. In August 2024, the Pitt Field got a facelift. The Spider logo in centerfield was made larger and refreshed Richmond Spiders branding was added behind home plate. Also at this time, the fencing was updated with full padding.
Outside the playing field the stadium boasts an indoor hitting and pitching facility down the third base line that was completed in the summer of 2022. The 3,667 square foot facility includes two full batting cages and pitching mounds with branded garage doors down each side allowing for natural air flow through the facility. Additional bathrooms for the baseball team’s use is also included in the practice facility. This new batting and pitching facility provides our baseball student-athletes an indoor facility they can utilize all year round.
Bleachers designed to accommodate 600 spectators and a two-story press box for local and visiting media provide an excellent setting for those who support and provide exposure for the Spiders. The outfield plaza, added in summer 2022, created a new fan experience by including a terrace that extends from right field to the batter's eye in centerfield where fans can bring their own chairs to congregate and watch Spider Baseball. The plaza also includes new dedicated bathrooms for fans beyond the right field fence.
