RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond fell to Interhoop-Club Ventspils, 97-95, in an exhibition game Thursday night at the Robins Center.
Sophomore guard Reggie Brown (Flushing, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) paced the Spiders with 24 points. Seniors Greg Stevenson (Fayetteville, N.C./71st) and Kinte Smith (Virginia Beach, Va./Cape Henry) scored 20 and 16 points, respectively. Kip Stone led Club Ventspils and all scorers with 29 points, including seven three-pointers.
Richmond led 53-49 at the break and by as many as 14 points in the second stanza before Club Ventspils came roaring back. Stone, who played collegiately at the University of Louisville, was an integral part of Club Ventspils's comeback scoring 15 of the club's 17 points during a five minute span in the second half. The Spiders open up their 2000-2001 campaign on November 17 when they entertain the Radford Highlanders. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
