IOWA CITY, Iowa - The University of Richmond suffered a 2-1 overtime loss to Iowa, a Final Four participant in last season's NCAA Tournament, on Sunday.
The Spiders (0-2) jumped out to an early lead when junior Heather Rice (Oklahoma City, Okla./Heritage Hall) scored on a penalty corner less than a minute into the game. Iowa tied the game at one scoring on a short-handed goal at the 22:45 mark. Still tied through regulation, the contest went to sudden-victory overtime. With just under four minutes played in the extra stanza, Iowa senior Natalie Dawson ended the game with a goal off a rebound.
