Spiders' Football Schedule Rated Toughest in I-AA

RICHMOND, Va. - According to the Sagarin NCAA football ratings, the University of Richmond has had the toughest schedule to date in all of I-AA football.
The Sagarin schedule rating involves 241 teams, combining I-A and I-AA schools. Richmond's schedule ranking is 106th, the highest rating of any I-AA program. It also ranks higher that Kansas State, TCU and Clemson. The Spiders are currently 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the Atlantic 10 Football Conference. Richmond has had a pair of games against I-A teams and two contests against top-five I-AA teams. In its two I-A games, Richmond lost 34-6 at Virginia and won 30-27 at Arkansas State. Against I-AA competition, the Spiders defeated Bucknell 10-7, topped then third-ranked Massachusetts 31-24 and lost yesterday to fifth-ranked Delaware 24-17.
Richmond's Sagarin rating is 102nd out of 241 teams. The Spiders are the tenth-highest I-AA team. Delaware is the top-rated I-AA team. The Blue Hens are 45th out of 241 squads.
The Spiders return to action this Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. contest at New Hampshire.
