RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Greg Stevenson scored 38 points and Eric Zwayer had 21, both career highs, and Richmond beat McNeese State 90-80 on Friday night.
Stevenson was 15-for-23 from the floor, including 7-for-8 on 3-pointers, to better his previous high of 31 points, set last year. The senior also had 11 rebounds.
Zwayer was 8-for-13 from the floor and added eight rebounds.
The Spiders (10-4) hit their first five shots to take 14-6 lead and never trailed. McNeese State (7-7) closed to within 38-37 late in the first half, but the Spiders ran off 15 of the last 20 points before the break to take a 53-42 lead into the locker room.
The Cowboys twice got within nine in the final minutes, but no closer.
Demond Mallet, the nation's fifth-leading scorer with a 23.2-point average, led McNeese State with 22 points. Tierre Brown added 21 and Ben Perkins 12.
Kinte Smith and Reggie Brown each added 11 for the Spiders.
