The University of Richmond women's swimming team improved to 2-0 on the season as it defeated the UMBC Retrievers, 182-118, Friday afternoon. The Spiders won 10 of the 16 events and freshman Mary Adams (Williamsburg, Va.) set a school record for the second time in as many meets.

Junior Katie Shipe (Mendon, N.Y.) won both the one and three meter diving events with scores of 234.00 and 222.22 respectively. Adams set the school record in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:06.72, just besting the mark held by teammate Elizabeth Cook (2:06.81). Cook (Rockville, Va.) was victorious in the 200 freestyle (1:55.23). Four different Spiders won other individual events and Richmond was also victorious in the 200 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay.

The Spiders return to action on October 31 at 4:00 p.m. as they travel to Blacksburg, Va. to swim against Radford and host Virginia Tech.
