ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - University of Richmond senior forward Laura Gincel (Princeton, N.J./West Windsor) netted two goals to lead the Spiders to a 3-0 Atlantic 10 conference victory over St. Bonaventure on Friday afternoon. Freshman Whitney Sikes (Gastonia, N.C./Forstview) added a goal and an assist in the win. Richmond improves to 8-8-1 and 7-3 in the Atlantic 10 while the Bonnies fall to 3-14-1 and 1-9 in the conference.
After a scoreless first half, the Spiders got on the board in the second stanza when Gincel scored her fourth goal of the season, a breakaway in the 66th minute. Richmond got insurance as Sikes netted her second goal of the year at the 81:23 mark with a shot off of the bar. Gincel scored her second goal of the afternoon with less than two minutes to play. The Spiders outshot the Bonnies, 25-4 in the contest.
The Spiders conclude their Atlantic 10 regular season play this weekend. On Sunday, they face Duquesne in Pittsburgh.
