PITTSBURGH - University of Richmond junior midfielder Jenna Merriam (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) scored the game's lone goal to lead the Spiders past the Duquesne Dukes, 1-0 on Sunday afternoon in Atlantic 10 women's soccer action. With the win, the Spiders improve to 9-8-1, and 8-3-0 in A-10 play.
Richmond scored the game-winner in the 33rd minute as Merriam connected on her team-leading sixth goal of the season.
Richmond will compete it its first Atlantic 10 Championships next weekend. The Spiders, seeded third, will take on the #2 seed La Salle at 7:30 on Friday, November 9. The Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Championships will take place at Rhode Island.
